After nearly two decades of anticipation, British Tindersticks will finally play their first show in Finland. The show takes place at Tavastia on March 12th.

Founded in Nottingham in early 90’s, Tindersticks have been amongst the most important bands of atmospheric alternative rock since the beginning of their career. In addition to the easily identifiable baritone singing of vocalist Stuart Staples, whose voice has often been compared to masters like Scott Walker and Leonard Cohen, quiet and edgy electronic guitars, atmospheric rhythms and woeful melodies are the corner stones of Tindersticks’ tranquil indie music.

Tindersticks’ self titled debut album was released in the middle of Brit pop’s golden era in 1993 but yet it was immediately chosen as the record of the year by Melody Maker. In spite of their ever growing popularity, the band decided to go on hiatus in 2003. As Staples moved to France and released two solo albums, many thought that the Tindersticks story was over for good. However, the band released a comeback album ”The Hungry Saw” last year and were off to a shiny new start.

Tindersticks’ eighth album ”Falling Down a Mountain” will be released on January 25th. In addition to their studio albums, the band have composed music to four Claire Denis films.

Tickets cost 33€ +possible handling charge and are available at Tiketti from December 8th on. Tickets at the door cost 35€.
