American hip hop artist Brother Ali returns to Helsinki after two years. He will bring along his fellow country man, beatboxer DJ Snuggles and together they will perform at Club YK on July 1.

Brother Ali is known for his strong political and personal lyrics that deal with drugs, slavery and politics. He combines vintage funk, jazz and blues elements and mesmerizing string arrangements to straightforward hip hop. He has been inspired by rap artist from the early 80s.

Brother Ali's first official release saw daylight in 2003 and he has since found favour with both critics and hip hop fans in the USA and Europe. The masses have become familiar with the artist through his several talk show performances: in 2007, he sang "Take Me Home" at Finns' favourite, Late Night With Conan O'Brien.

Last time Brother Ali visited Finland in 2008 when he performed at Tavastia with Atmosphere. Since then, he has released two full-lengths. His latest release "Us" (2009) has received rave reviews and it continues in the same path with "The Undisputed Truth" (2007) that is widely considered as one of the milestones of recent hip hop.

The evening will be opened by Solonen and records will be spinned by DJ Antti-Skate. The doors will be opened at 8 pm and the event will end at 11 pm. Tickets cost 15€ +possible handling charge and they are available at Tiketti.
