PSYCHOBILLY BAND THE SURF RATS TO FINLAND
British psychobilly band The Surf Rats will arrive in Finland late spring. Their mini tour starts at Rockin' Hood, Salo on May 7 and continues in Lepakkomies, Helsinki and Klubi, Tampere the following nights. The show in Salo with Vulture Club and the show in Helsinki with Sun Connection are 18+ but the last performance in Tampere with Vulture Club and The Verticals is all ages.
Founded in the beginning of 80s, The Surf Rats drew inspiration from early punk, rockabilly and psychobilly groups and soon earned their place as an opener for big names from The Meteors to Batmobile. The band's debut album "Trouble" was released in 1987.
During the decline of the psychobilly scene in the 90s, the original line-up continued to perform and record under different names, moving more towards a rockabilly sound. Last year, The Surf Rats announced a comeback tour with the only original member, guitarist / singer Gaz Mason, bassist Fantomas and drummer Gaybeul.
The forthcoming Finnish tour is organized in co-operation with Hellbilly Crew.
