Mar 26 2010: Memory Tapes (USA) plays finally in Helsinki

One of today's hottest indie name, American Memory Tapes, will pay their first visit to Finland in summer. Hailing from New Jersey's flourishing indie scene, this chill wave's most current representative will perform at Kuudes Linja on June 30th.

The band's frontman, 26-year-old Dayve Hawk started his career in Hail Social who toured with, for example, Interpol. Two years ago, Hawke released solo material under the names Memory Cassette and Weird Tapes and ended up remixing Britney Spears, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Peter Björn & John and even Michael Jackson.

Since early 2009, Hawke has focused on Memory Tapes. The artist's first uploaded song "Bicycle" gained immediate recognition from media like Pitchfork, NME and The Guardian. Memory Tapes became a hot new indie name and numerous artists from Portishead to director Spike Jonze praised the band's uniqueness. Musically, the band find their place somewhere between Cut Copy, The Flaming Lips, Prince and My Bloody Valentine. The band's critically acclaimed debut album "Seek Magic" (2009) was selected as "Best New Music" by Pitchfork.

Tickets cost 12€ +possible handling charge and they will be available at Tiketti on March 29th.
