Hailing from Norway and its flourishing underground culture, experimental alternative rock foursome Ultralyd will pay their first visit to Finland in spring. The band will perform at Semifinal, Helsinki on May 19th.

Founded in 2004, Ultralyd consist of saxophonist Frode Gjaerstad, drummer Morten J. Olsen (MoHa!), guitarist Anders Hana and bassist Kjetil D. Brandsdal (Noxagt). Combining amply different genres like free improvisation, metal and classical music, Ultralyd have been described as a mixture of Sun Ra, Can, Nurse With Wound and Slint. The band have released four studio albums of which especially the third one ”Conditions for a Piece of Music” (2007) spawned a lot of media coverage even in mainstream media. Ultralyd's latest release is "Renditions" lp (2009).

At Semifinal, the stage will be warmed up by Pymathon. Tickets cost 8€ +possible handling charge and they are available at Tiketti.
