"Fun". The name says it all. It's a reminder of what rock music should be. Beer and unbridled ferocity. Meeting the opposite sex by falling onto them in a bar, vomiting and uninhibited. Total annihilation of the mundane. Giving birth to yourself through noise, sweat and hammered oblivion.

Fun are a band from Helsinki, Finland. During their ten year existence, they've done all this and more. They've shared stages with The Jesus Lizard, Nomeansno, Polvo and Deerhoof. They've recorded their second album, "Zu-Pa!" at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio, with the great man at the helm.
Pretty impressive, eh? That's not half of it. Their true merit is that they create a racket that sounds like Link Wray on crystal meth, trying to stab the ghost of Cobain (yes, I'm referring to the FIRST record) out of the speaker of the amplifier while Thurston Moore is spiking David Yow's cocktail with cyanide and cream soda. All this heard through a thundering hangover. It's white light and white heat, Captain, but not like we've known it.
Think of Rapeman and Melt Banana, fry up some Butthole Surfers and then add a dash of the spastic Finnish jazzcore of Deep Turtle. Brutal and honest, and not just saying so. Cures hangovers. Creates them.
Fun's debut release, "Fun EP", was self-released in 2002 on 10" vinyl and has been sold out since. The first album was titled "Szklarska Poreba", (referring to a small Polish village (literally "glass clearing") in the mountains where lots of strange things took place) was released in 2004 on If Society records. It was followed by another Polish titled LP, "Zu-pa!" in 2007, also on If Society. Their new album titled "New 13" was released on October 20th, 2010.
- Jean Ramsay
"Fun knocks the socks off most American noise bands mainly because these gentlemen have imagination and aren't trying to sound like everyone else."
"Fun is that chain-smoking, delirious nutcase at the next table who might start throwing empty glasses at you at any moment."
"Long songs, personal lyrics that don't have any sense, nice packaging. Not my cup of tea."
"I like this band, because those guys are so fucking ugly."
