British alternative rock legend The Fall will finally arrive in Finland for the first time. Led by their colourful frontman Mark E. Smith, the band will perform at Klubi, Tampere on October 3 and at Tavastia, Helsinki the following night.
Founded in Prestwich in 1976, The Fall are one of the most significant British alternative bands of all times. Together with their contemporaries Joy Division, Wire and Public Image Ltd, The Fall played an important role in creating post punk. The band's roots lie in The Velvet Underground's pre-punk, Captain Beefheart's twisted blues, Can's kraut rock and 60s garage punk but during their long career, they have also flirted with country, drum & bass and IDM. Nowadays The Fall's recognisable, tight and economic sound lies somewhere in the middle ground of garage punk and kraut rock.
The Fall have released 28 studio albums and their latest full-length "Your Future Our Clutter" was released in April by Domino. The Fall have never enjoyed big commercial success but the band's influence on alternative music scene has been enormous. Hundreds of artist from Nirvana to Pavement and from Nick Cave to LCD Soundsystem have listed The Fall as one of their most significant idols.
The forthcoming shows are organised in cooperation with Sue. Tickets to the Tampere show cost 26€ +possible handling charge. Tickets to the Helsinki show cost 28€ +possible handling charge. Tickets at the door cost 30€. Tickets to both concerts will be available at Tiketti on July 9.
